Hazards Identification

Melting Shea Butter requires heating, and a hot liquid may cause burns.

First Aid Measures

Eye contact: Flush eyes with plenty of water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Skin contact: Wash with plenty of soap and water. If liquid hot butter is splashed onto the skin, cool under cold water.  Do not remove the solidified wax without medical attention.

Ingestion: Not considered dangerous. In high dosage, seek medical attention.

Fire-Fighting Measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Dry powder, CO2, Foam or Sand.

Special risks: None identified.

Special precautions: Use positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus. Cool containers at risk with water spray jet.

Accidental Release Measures

Individual precautions: Wear protective clothing, gloves and eye protection. Watch out for slippery floor in the case of spillage.

Environmental precautions: Do not discharge into drains, surface water or ground water.

Clean-up procedure: Collect the spilled product. Wash area with water and detergent. Collect all material in a suitable container for disposal.

Handling: Observe good industrial hygiene practices. Wear gloves, eye protection and protective clothing.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in unopened containers. Do not expose containers to source of heat.
